Kisii Governor Simba Arati has appointed Elijah Obembo as his deputy following the impeachment of Robert Monda in March.
Obembo served on the county's Public Service Board as chairman for eight months before his appointment.
Monda was shown the door after the Senate found him guilty of violating the Constitution, abusing office, and committing crimes under national law.
His woes began when Ichuni ward MCA Wycliffe Gesongori moved a motion at the Kisii county assembly, seeking his removal.
Speaking while being sworn in at Gusii Stadium, Obembo thanked Governor Simba Arati for picking him for the job.
Obembo said he will help Arati deliver on all the pre-election pledges he made to the electorate.
He vowed to use his position to wage a war on graft, saying his principles resonate well with Arati's call for a corruption-free government.
He boasts a wealth of experience as an administrator, having previously held various positions in the national government for many years before his appointment to chair the Kisii County Public Service Board.
Governor Arati praised his new deputy for serving diligently during his brief tenure as the Public Service Board chairman, asking him to be faithful to the course by fighting corruption.
Meanwhile, Arati also praised Gen Z for agitating for the rights of Kenyans but cautioned them against destroying public and private property.
