The Commission for University Education (CUE) has accredited Zetech University to offer advanced degree programs, including a PhD in Computer Science and an MSc in Computer Science and IT.

The accreditation comes after a rigorous process including adherence to ISO standards, state-of-the-art facilities and a distinguished teaching faculty.

The University Vice Chancellor, Prof Njenga Munene attributed the achievement to the institution's impressive track record in technological innovations and academic excellence saying it seeks to build on its recent successes by further enhancing its technological education and expanding its innovative programs.

“We remain committed to our core mission of impacting society through research-driven education that integrates innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. We have introduced new courses, in the PhD in Computer Science and Msc in Computer Science and IT, programs that have been approved by the Commission for University Education (CUE), focused on emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain technology, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Software Development, Machine Learning and the Internet of Things (IoT), thereby staying ahead of educational trends and meeting the evolving needs in the job market,” he said.

Earlier this month, Zetech University was ranked one of the best universities in Africa in the top 10 Universities in Africa to study Blockchain Technology by Emurgo Africa.

Microsoft Africa Development Center (ADC), Managing Director, Catherine Muraga, noted that the programs are designed to meet current market demands, address emerging technological trends, and align with global tech solutions necessary for the ever-evolving tech space.

The university has continued to actively participate in the upskilling programmes by Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC) aimed at supporting university lecturers and empowering them to keep in step with advancements in the tech industry – an edition that introduced elements within its content and instruction that will further place participating faculty at the forefront of understanding technological progress and its place in learning institutions.

Recently, the University received a certificate and a cheque for ten thousand US dollars for an outstanding achievement in technological solutions and innovations.

It was the sole representative from East Africa that secured the first runner-up position in the 3rd Edition of the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) Innovation Challenge, after Veritas University in Nigeria.

At the same time, Prof Munene said that the University will in a few months time roll out other courses for Degree, Diploma and Certificate students.

“The Zetech University Council and Management Board is considering adding more courses on a programmes list that will be beneficial to our students. We are determined to impart the requisite skills and knowledge in diverse fields to our students that will shape their career lives,” he said.

With the growing student population and the increased demand for housing for students, the VC divulged that plans are at an advanced stage to put up an ultra-modern student accommodation facility in Mang’u campus.

“We are also continuously improving our recreational activities such as the modern sports complex and facilities which will be in Mang’u campus,” he said.

The University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research, Extension and Student Affairs Prof Alice Njuguna, noted that the curricula for the courses have been developed with significant contributions from the Varsity academic division and relevant industry players,

“The launch of these programmes is a testament to the growth of the University and we have worked hard to ensure we put together content that is current, experiential and of the highest standards. We believe they will attract a large number of learners and our faculty is equipped to offer quality training to those who register for the courses,” said Prof Njuguna.
