Police are investigating an incident in which a man killed his wife before taking his life at Manyatta estate in Kisumu.

Felix Owiti, 32, stabbed his wife Jecinta Atieno, 26, to death on the chest.

He later hanged himself using a rope on the rooftop of their house on Monday morning.

The motive of the killings is unclear, however, neighbours said the two have been having domestic issues.

Owiti and Atieno were working at Osiepe bar within the Kona Legio area as manager and cleaner respectively.

The bar belongs to an MCA. The deceased has left behind three minors-two boys and one girl.

Kisumu Central OCPD Peter Mulai confirmed the incident. He said the two were found dead by their daughter who informed a bodaboda operator who had come to take her to school.

“The rider notified Kondele location chief Maurice Nyanga who immediately notified the police who visited the scene,” Mulai said.

The bodies were discovered in the morning at about 7 am.

“Even the neighbours did not hear any commotion in the house,” Mulai said.

He said the bodies have been taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Mulai said Owiti stabbed the wife in the right chest using a knife killing her instantly before hanging himself.

He said they have launched investigations on the matter.

Nyanga said the two were found dead in their residential house in the Metameta unit.

“It is alleged that Owiti killed his wife before killing himself in the Monday morning incident,” he said.

Nyanga said the deceased came to the house from work at about 4 am before the incident.

Kondele Police Station OCS Dan Ogechi and DCI officers visited the scene.
