A lobby group has warned politicians from the Mt Kenya region against threatening Deputy President William Ruto.

The group wants the DP to have a sitting with them so that they can discuss the interest of residents.

The Kenya Youth Civic Education Network alleged that such leaders end up using youths to cause chaos so that their demands are heard.

KYCEN national chairman Macharia Wainaina advised the youth to be very careful as the time for being used by politicians for personal gain draws near.

Wainaina spoke after addressing 50 youths in Limuru town on Monday. He was accompanied by KYCEN youth director Godfrey Kimani.

The chairman asked politicians to use their political means to look for Ruto and have talks with him.

“We are watching every situation where our youths might be used for political gain and we will not keep quiet.

"We will not favour a party or individuals, we shall speak out loudly. We all know some of these politicians, don’t we?

“I do not know who sent them to purport to speak on behalf of Mt Kenya residents. Mentioning Mt Kenya is unconstitutional and tribal because, in the 2010 Constitution, we have counties” he said.

Kimani, for his part, asked the youths to be very vigilant and listen to all aspirants' vision, party manifestos so that they can make informed choices on who to elect peacefully.

The director asked the youth to report politicians who will try to misuse them so that appropriate actions can be taken.

“This country belongs to all of us. We should be very alert with anyone who comes to mislead and take advantage of our energetic youthful. Let us try as much as possible to resist being misused,” he advised.
