Politician Stephen Mwangi Kimani who contested for Limuru Central MCA seat but lost and now want the election nullified.

An MCA candidate who vied as an independent on August 9, has filed a petition seeking the nullification of Limuru Central ward election.

Stephen Mwangi Kimani is asking the Limuru law court to order the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to conduct fresh elections.

Kimani is also seeking an injunction to restrain the UDA candidate Nduta Muongi from being sworn in as the area MCA even after winning for the seat.

Mwangi who is popularly known as "wama connections", says his name was not properly written in the elections ballot.

The MCA aspirant also wants the IEBC to compensate him for the cost he incurred.

In an affidavit he used to file the petition, Kimani says he spent a lot of money to prepare for the elections and he paid all the fees he was supposed to pay and attended all meetings he was asked to.

Mwangi says the ballot had a name Stephen Mwangi Mwangi instead of his name Stephen Mwangi Kimani.

"A lot of my supporters couldn't recognise me because of the way my name had been written. This was so unfortunate," he said.

He said he had complained the same to the IEBC when candidates of all seats were called to the commission's offices to confirm their names and sign on the ballot papers.

"The IEBC had invited all candidates to crosscheck their names and sign. I checked mine and that mistake was there, I notified them and they promised to rectify but I realised the didn't change on the voting day," he said.

He has sued the IEBC, Limuru returning officer Joseph Musyoki and Muongi as the third respondent.

Mwangi had already served the IEBC with copies of the suit.
