Lari MP Mburu Kahangara has raised concern over continued cases of students attaining Es in KCSE exams.

He lamented that such students were a lost generation since such results cannot really help them academically in their lives.

As the 8-4-4 system comes to an end, the MP vowed to work hard together with teachers, parents and students so as to ensure that no candidate in the constituency gets grade E in national exams.

He revealed that he was shocked to learn that is a school in the area  had  33 candidates who scored Es in KCSE.

"Surely, where are we headed with such grades? We have teachers who are university graduates, the government has paid school fees and parents feeding programme. Yet our children are not performing" he said.

He spoke at Bathi Secondary School where he issued a bursary cheque of Sh1,109,000 to needy students in the school.

However, as a motivation for learners to work hard, the MP warned that those students who will attain Es in their end of term exams will not receive bursaries.

Parents supported the idea saying they will push their children to work hard so as to improve.

The legislator revealed to parents who were there that, he has held meetings with teachers and head teachers so as to place strategies of improving the quality of education in tbe area.

The added that, his office was looking forward to holding motivation talks with students so as to encourage them to work hard.

"We shall behaving different speakers, people with stories of how life was hard when they were learning but today, they are better positions or are doing well in the business arena" he said.

Bathi Secondary School Principal Gordon Njogu urged parents to support the MP's idea since it was meant to see their children benefit from good grades and government sponsorship.
