Police in Limuru constituency in Kiambu county have launched investigations into the mysterious killing of a man.

The man's body was found on Thursday morning at a shopping centre, burnt beyond recognition

Detectives said no one could identify the man.

Limuru subcounty police commander Phillip Mwania said they are trying to establish his identity and the reason behind his murder.

He urged members of the public with information of the murder to assist the police.

“We were called by the public regarding the killing of the unidentified person. We responded quickly but until now, he has not been identified” the police boss said.

Mary Muthoni, a resident, said that there have been cases of insecurity in the area.

“There are youth who are terrorising women and old men. They attack them and rob them of their valuables such as mobile phones, money and food items,” she said.

Muthoni said she suspects that the man was a member of a criminal gang that has been terrorising residents.

“Some of the suspected thugs who terrorise us get arrested but are later on released from prison. After a few months, they start stealing again, something that frustrates people, who end up lynching them,” she said.
