Ndindi Nyoro’s Kiharu Constituency intends to construct 8 fully equipped laboratories for Junior Secondary Schools and chiefs' offices for Sh34.8 million this financial year
The MP said on Wednesday that the Kiharu Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has launched the first phase of a large-scale infrastructure initiative targeting over 70 projects in the 2025/26 Financial Year.
The aim is to enhance education standards and streamline administrative operations across the constituency, with at least five new assistant chiefs’ offices set to be built.
“With funding already disbursed to project accounts, construction is set to begin immediately,’’ Nyoro said in a post on X.
The centrepiece of the effort is the development of fully equipped science laboratory complexes in eight Junior Secondary Schools across the constituency, each receiving Sh3.5 million in funding.
The benefiting schools include Gakurwe Primary School, Kimathi Primary School, Karingu Primary School, Kambirwa Primary School, Maragi Primary, Gatuya Primary, Githagara Primary and Kiumu Primary.
“These
laboratories will be a game-changer for science education in our Day Secondary
Schools,” Nyoro said.
“We are committed to ensuring our students have access to practical learning facilities that will deepen their understanding and improve academic performance.”
In addition to educational facilities, the programme includes the construction of a multipurpose hall at Kahuro Secondary School at a cost of Sh 3 million.
The hall is intended to serve both school and community functions.
Administrative infrastructure is also receiving a boost, with the construction of new offices to support national government administration.
They include Gakurwe Assistant Chief’s Office, Gitaro Assistant Chief’s Office, Karuru Assistant Chief’s Office and Kianderi Assistant Chief’s Office, each at a cost of Sh 1.4 million.
Ititu Chief’s Office will cost Sh 1.2 million.
To jump-start the projects, Nyoro, on April 23, held a meeting with the Project Management Committees from the respective projects.
The meeting aimed at coordinating supervision and ensuring accountability throughout the construction process.
This ambitious rollout comes weeks after Nyoro was ejected as the National Assembly’s Budge and Appropriations Committee.
MPs complained that Nyoro used his influence to allocate more funds to his constituency,
a claim the lawmaker denied.
