Construction of the Shauri–Karia–Karenju Road in Lari Constituency is progressing steadily, with ongoing earthworks marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve transport infrastructure and enhance connectivity between Githirioni, Kirenga and neighbouring communities.
The road project is expected to ease movement of people and goods while opening up the area's economic potential by improving access to markets, schools, health facilities and other essential services.
During an inspection tour of the project, Lari Member of Parliament Mburu Kahangara expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the construction works.
He commended residents for their cooperation in facilitating the project, particularly those who voluntarily removed fences, gates and other structures within the road reserve to allow the road to meet the required highway standards.
"Your willingness to support this project demonstrates a shared commitment to development and the greater good of our community," said Kahangara.

Although the project is being spearheaded by the MP to address local development priorities, technical implementation is being undertaken by engineers from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).
The engineers are responsible for preparing the road design, ensuring compliance with national engineering standards, supervising construction works and approving the required specifications to guarantee a durable and safe road network.
The collaboration between political leadership, technical experts and local residents has been cited as an example of effective partnership in delivering public infrastructure projects.
Once completed, the upgraded road is expected to benefit residents of Shauri, Karia, Githirioni, Kirenga, Rukuma and Matore, areas known for high agricultural production.
Farmers are expected to enjoy easier access to markets, enabling them to transport produce more efficiently while reducing travel time and transport costs.
The improved road network is also expected to promote trade, attract investment and enhance access to public services, including schools and healthcare facilities.
Kahangara reaffirmed his commitment to expanding quality road infrastructure across Lari Constituency, saying improved transport networks remain central to the area's long-term development agenda.
Residents welcomed the ongoing works, saying the upgraded road will improve business activities, enhance mobility and create new economic opportunities for the farming communities.
They expressed optimism that the project would transform the region by improving accessibility, increasing safety for road users and supporting sustainable economic growth.
