Kwale livestock farmers are benefitting from free feed for dairy cattle suffering in the drought.

The project started in February in the worst-hit subcounties including Kinango, Lunga Lunga and Matuga. The National Drought Management Authority has partnered with the European Union.

County drought management coordinator Roman Sherah yesterday said NDMA has focused on livestock farmers as they are hard-hit. He said other state agencies have been concentrating on human lives.

The second phase of distribution is on, with 600 sacks of Fugo feed made available in Matuga subcounty. Besides dairy cattle, they target emaciated livestock.
