A section of Islamic religious leaders in Mombasa have condemned the West for trying to force their culture down the throats of Kenyans.

Led by the Grand Mufti Sheikh Omar Buya, the religious leaders praised Kenya’s second lady Dorcas Gachagua for standing against the gay movement in the country and the world which threatens to corrode Africa’s social fabric.

“Second lady has stood firm with the Book. Homosexuality has no place in our society. That is written in the Book,” Sheikh Buya said.

The religious leaders spoke in Nyali on Saturday.

The Grand Mufti warned that the country could suffer should it allow homosexuality to continue unabated.

“Our mother is correct. She should not be condemned by the West for standing with the truth,” Sheikh Buya said.

Hassan Hamisi, a religious leader, said all religions in the country do not condone homosexuality and all those who prescribe to any religion in Kenya must oppose it.

Pastor Dorcas has in the past bashed religious and traditional African leaders for being relatively silent on the LGBTQ+ movement, which she says does not have a place in the African culture.

She has maintained that Kenya should not be forced into accepting unAfrican cultures for material gain.

On Saturday, the Muslim religious leaders called on all religious leaders to speak out against homosexuality without fear.

“This is protecting our future generations,” they said, warning that supporting the LGBTQ+ community will attract the wrath of God.

The Grand Mufti said Kenya is better off without doing business with the West if it means accepting their ‘wicked ways’.

“Our God is the sole provider. He can provide for us. We should not be forced to accept such vices as homosexuality for us to qualify to do business with the West,” Sheikh Buya said.

The cleric said the country’s woes including extremes such as drought and floods that come within the same period could be a sign that God is not happy with Kenyans.

He said all knowledge that God has given human beings also indicates homosexuality is wrong.

“It is not possible for a padlock to open another padlock. Only a key can open a padlock," he said.

He said the holy books reveal that already God has punished people because of homosexuality and warned that Kenya could attract the same punishment should it continue condoning homosexuality.

“As Kenyans we are not ready to suffer mysterious diseases, drought, famine, floods, and many more because of homosexuality. We will ensure that this vice does not get a footing in Kenya,” he said.

He said they support Dorcas Gachagua 100 per cent and stand with her against the actions of the West.
