Fatal Taru road accident claims two lives

At least two people have died and several others were seriously injured in a fatal road accident in Taru, Kwale County.

The incident took place on Sunday morning and involved a collision between a bus and a trailer.

Lydia Mambo, the area OCPD, verified the tragic occurrence, stating that the two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in the immediate deaths of the two individuals.

"Two people have died and several others were rushed to hospital," she said.

The bus was heading to Mombasa from Nairobi and the trailer was going in the opposite direction when the accident occurred.

According to the OCPD, the two vehicles were speeding and lost control.

The survivors were rushed to various hospitals.

The OCPD said the heavy traffic that was witnessed after the accident is slowly clearing up.

The accident comes barely a week after two people died in a trailer and canter fatal gruesome accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway in the Samburu sub-county within Kwale.

Going further, the OCPD has urged the motorists to be extra careful as they go for festive seasons.

"There is no need to rush, drive with caution," she said.

County Director of Communication Nicky Gitonga has also emphasized road users to observe traffic rules.

He urged residents to report speeding drivers and not to board overloaded public vehicles.

Gitonga said the safety of every Kenyan matters and driver should ensure they drive professionally.
