Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has encouraged the community to extend their compassion and embrace the spirit of sharing during Christmas and other festive seasons.
According to her, sharing is a universal expression of humanity and a blessing that transcends religious differences, urging everyone to make it a regular practice.
"I remind you to show love to the less privileged families and individuals. Share what you have and celebrate together," Achani said on Sunday.
The Governor emphasized that individuals should utilize the festive season for introspection, contemplating both their accomplishments and challenges.
As the New Year approaches, she urged everyone to set the stage for development and prosperity.
Speaking through County Director of Communication Nicky Gitonga, Achani stressed the significance of celebrating with caution.
She emphasized the need for responsible drinking and urged residents to remain vigilant to preserve security.
Achani further advised holidaymakers and revelers to refrain from drinking and driving to ensure optimal road safety and prevent accidents.
The Governor said while celebrating, people should be each other's brotherkeepers and work closely with security agencies to thwart any form of criminal activities.
Achani stated that the county has deployed an ample number of inspectorate officers and professional divers, collaborating closely with tourist police and coast guards to bolster the safety of revelers along the beaches and in towns.
She urged holidaymakers to accompany their children at the beaches to prevent drowning incidents.
Furthermore, the Governor pleaded with parents to exercise vigilance, especially concerning the whereabouts of their children, particularly schoolgirls, during celebrations to prevent teenage pregnancies.
Achani expressed concerns about potential sex predators taking advantage of such occasions to lure schoolgirls, potentially jeopardizing their futures.
Emphasizing her administration's commitment to education through bursaries, she stressed the importance of ensuring all children return safely to school when institutions reopen next year.
