The national government has allocated Sh1.5 billion for a rural electrification project in Kwale County.

Speaking at Mackinnon Technical and Vocational College in Kinango, President William Ruto said that his administration's goal is to enhance electricity connectivity to ensure every Kenyan has access to a comfortable life.

Ruto said the national government would work closely with the county to assess the number of villages and homesteads that lack electricity.

He said that the project aims to illuminate every corner of the country to enhance lives and livelihoods.

"We will identify areas in Kinango without electricity to eliminate darkness and improve access," he said.

Ruto added that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure equitable development across Kenya, with a focus on rural areas that have historically faced challenges in accessing essential services.

He said by improving electricity connectivity, the government hopes to support economic activities, education, and healthcare, ultimately contributing to the overall growth and development of the region.

He said the Kinango electrification project aligns with the administration's commitment to infrastructure development and inclusive progress.

Ruto assured that the government will continue working closely with local communities to ensure the successful implementation of the transformative electricity project.

"Let's work together to ensure more development and growth of our country," he said.

Ruto stressed the importance of unity and the need to move away from tribal politics.

He highlighted that violence and division hinder development, emphasizing that strength lies in working together.

Ruto urged all Kenyans to collaborate and support one another to achieve progress and build a more cohesive society.

"There is value in us working together in making Kenya great," he said.

The president said he decided to include everyone in his new cabinet for the development and shun party politics.

Ruto also noted that the progress of constructing the multi-purpose Mwache dam is on course in Kwale.

President Ruto affirmed the government's commitment to completing the dam project to ensure residents have access to clean drinking water and to boost agricultural and socioeconomic activities.

He announced that additional initiatives are underway to construct more dams, aiming to alleviate drought, combat hunger, and enhance food security.

Ruto also pledged improvements in healthcare through the Social Health Insurance Fund program, which will provide affordable healthcare services to all Kenyans.

He revealed the government's focus on ICT hubs to create online job opportunities for the youth, thereby improving their livelihoods.
