Mombasa residents hailing from Wajir County have called on the police to expedite the probe into the mysterious abduction of Dala Ward MCA Yusuf Hussein Abdi.

The Wajir County Assembly minority leader was reportedly abducted by armed people in Nairobi on Friday night.

A resident, Adan Issack said the MCA was abducted on Enterprise Road while heading to his home in Pangani from the South C area in Nairobi.

“He was being trailed by two Prado vehicles. Up to today, we don’t know his whereabouts. There is no information or leads. Blood is thicker than water. We want to know the whereabouts of our brother,” Issack said.

He said forceful disappearances were supposed to be a bygone as the President promised when he took the oath of Office, but they were still going on.

Issack said the abduction deprived more than 10,000 Dalla people of representation in the County Assembly.

“We want to know his whereabouts. If he has offences he should be taken to court and convicted or freed. Kenya is a country governed by the rule of law. The law says if someone is arrested, he is supposed to be produced in court within 24 hours,” he said.

“Today is the fourth day and we don’t know if he is alive or dead. The buck stops with the President. Abductions are continuing. We want the MCA to be produced.”

Abdullahi Ali appealed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to search for the abducted MCA.

“It is appalling that an elected MCA from Wajir was abducted in Nairobi by armed people as we heard. We want the government to work relentlessly to find him,” Ali said.

A resident, Rukia Omar challenged government agencies to establish his whereabouts.
