Energy CS Alex Wachira has launched two last-mile electricity connection projects in Tana River that are set to benefit 347 households.
The two projects were commissioned in Iqra and Nduru villages.
Wachira during the launch distributed over 2000 clean cooking jikos and stoves to residents.
He said that the government was still committed to ensuring that all Kenyans could access clean energy by the year 2030.
The Last Mile Electricity connection programme is at the heart of President William Ruto’s agenda of transforming the lives of Kenyans.
The PS said the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum through the
Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation and the Kenya Power
Company will sign contracts with service providers next month for the
implementation of the Kenya off-grid solar access program.
