Isiolo speaker roots for leaders, locals engagement through sports

Says the interactions will help make leaders conversant with problems facing constituents at the grassroots.

Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Mohamed Roba has urged local leaders to engage more with locals through extra-curriculum activities.

Speaking on Friday, he said that the interaction with members of the public will enable Ward representatives to better understand the various challenges affecting area residents and possible solutions.

 

Roba noted that local youths are well endowed with talents that need to be tapped, nurtured and exploited fully for the benefit the community.

He was speaking after members of the County Assembly of Isiolo and their staff held a friendly football match with Jillo Dima Kinna FC at Kinna Primary School grounds.

Speaker Roba led the team that comprised of all the MCAs and support Staff.

According to the Speaker, the friendly football match is part of a series of interactive activities the assembly is undertaking between MCAs and members of the public.

In addition, Roba said the County Assembly will come up with a piece of legislation that will guide the County Executive in conducting sports tournaments as a way of supporting talent development.

He said that the initiative was also a team building activity for the County Assembly Members and staff.

He noted that that similar exercises will be held on a rotational basis across all the ten wards.

Jillo Dima FC players were awarded a trophy and Sh50,000 cash by the speaker after defeating the County Assembly team 3-1.

The team also received 20 pairs of full uniform and 10 balls courtesy of the County Assembly.
