Mwingi boy who scored A wants to be a software guru

He said he wants to align his career with the fast paced digital shift

Mark Mbiti, a KCSE candidate from Kitui county who scored A of 81 points has said he wants to become a software engineer.

Mbiti, who sat for his exams at Friends School Kamusinga said he wants to align his career with the fast paced digital shift.

He said software engineering will soon be the most sought after skill and trade in the world.

“I am awake to the fact that a degree in computer engineering will be very marketable globally," Mbiti said.

“With this career, you can be employed or even self employed and make very good money."

He said he wishes to be admitted at the Multimedia University.

Mbiti attributed his good performance to hard work, discipline and dedication.

Since Form 1, he said, his performance has been alternating between B+ and A-.

The candidate joined Friends School Kamusinga from Neema Academy in Mwingi, after scoring 400 marks in the 2019 KCPE.

“I owe my performance to the hard work. I revised a lot and paid great attention to my teachers, who sacrificed their time to teach us,” he added.

His father, David Mutemi, described him as a bright and  gifted child.

“He topped his class through out his primary education. He was highly disciplined and teachers hardly complained about him,” Mutemi said.

Mutemi, a teacher at Kalisasi Primary school in Mwingi Central said teachers at Friends School Kamusinga always had positive comments about him.

“They described him as a good, hardworking and obedient boy, who was very courageous and confident," he said.

The candidate's mother, Redempter Wanzila, said she prayed for her son's performance.

“Additionally, we incessantly prayed for him well aware that it is God who makes good things happen. The family prayed for him to shine in his KCSE exams. I prayed at 3 am every day,” she said.
