Police in Yatta, Machakos County are investigating an incident where a man was allegedly murdered in a suspected love triangle on Tuesday.

Police said the 50-year-old man died on the spot after he was allegedly hit on the head using a hoe handle.

"We have launched a manhunt for the 34-year-old man who went into hiding after allegedly committing the crime," a police officer privy to the incident told the Star.

Police said a woman had been interrogated over the incident and was helping in the probe.

Police moved the body to Komboni Mission Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

"The 41-year-old woman has been interrogated by officers probing the incident. She is said to have been dating the two men and on the fateful day, she was escorting the deceased when they met the suspect and a fight between the two ensued," the source said.

The assailant allegedly hit the deceased on the head killing him, police said.
