A 60-year-old man has died after he was reportedly attacked by a swarm of bees in Masinga, Machakos County.

Police said Njau Kariuki succumbed to injuries sustained from the bees’ bite as he was being rushed to Ekalakala Level 3 hospital in Masinga subcounty on Tuesday.

However, from the police report, it wasn't clear how the man was attacked by the bees.

The incident that happened at Ekalakala village in the Masinga division was reported to the Ekalakala police station as a death incident report.

“A report reaching me from the assistant chief Ekalakala sublocation is that one Njau Kariuki aged around 60 years has just been attacked by a swarm of bees. He was rushed to Ekalakala Level 3 hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” a police signal seen by the Star read in part.

Police said the body was removed to Mbaku mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

Officers from Ekalakala police station have launched investigations into the incident.
