Tanzania's Brett and Baileys emerged as the Chief Pacesetters and overall winners at major international Small and Mid-sized firms Awards ceremony dubbed the Pacesetters Awards.

Brett and Baileys was among more than 150 Leading firms and 10 professionals in Eastern Africa were honoured during the ceremony in Nairobi organised by Jubilant Stewards of Africa (JSA).

The annual competition brought together firms from at least 10 countries in the Eastern Africa region including top SMEs and mid-sized top institutions from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania among other countries.

Jubilant Stewards of Africa executive director Jared Oundo said the Pacesetters Awards (PSA) ) is an annual Industry leadership Recognition programme to celebrate key industry leaders for their innovation, quality products and service delivery, job creation, exemplary leadership, growing the economy, and transforming the society.

"These awards are based on the economic and social impact rather than the balance sheet," Oundo said, adding that JSA was dedicated to the improvement of living standards, social ethics, dignity and empowerment of communities.

"As part of its Corporate Social Investment, JSA feels the need to encourage firms and individuals to take leadership in their respective industries and get them into pace," he said.

He added that the Pacesetters Awards Continental Chapter will be held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania later this year while the Intercontinental Chapter will be held in either North Carolina or London depending on the majority of sponsors and participant preference.

Institutions that sponsored and partnered with organisers to ensure the success of this year’s Awards include the United SMEs Association Of Kenya, Zoho Corporation, Service Cop Limited Uganda, Robisearch, and Sunflower Event among others.

Oundo said JSA in partnership with the United SMEs Association of Kenya was organising a Tech expo that will take place in Nairobi Kenya from November 5-8, 2023.

“Pacesetters Awards considers a range of quantitative and qualitative aspects to determine and honour the winners through a novel survey model initiated in 2020 for the hyperinflationary environment,” he said.

Zoho Corporation expressed its excitement to have partnered with JSA in organising the regional awards ceremony saying that this was only the start of a great cooperation and alliance between the two.

Some of the new entrants in the 2023 Eastern Africa Chapter of the awards include Westland Laser Eye Hospital, MP Shah Hospital, Pekan Real Estates Ltd, Nyeri based - Modern Furniture Pacific, Tours and Travel firm - Spoton Vacations Ltd, Jambo Freight Tanzania and Pembe Flour Mills among many others.

Speaking while receiving their trophy and certificate, Ena Coach chief executive officer Richard Mogire expressed gratitude at JSA’s decision to recognise the important role played by the public service vehicle (PSV) sector.

He observed that the sector is often overlooked yet it plays a crucial role in society because 90 per cent of the professional workforce uses PSV to and from their workplaces.
