All Level 4 hospitals in Homa Bay county should be equipped to offer better services to residents, county MP has said.

Woman Representative Joyce Osogo underscored the need for concerted efforts by all stakeholders to engage for better health services.

“I want to call upon the Ministry of Health to join us in ensuring our Level 4 hospitals that is our districts and dispensaries in the county are well equipped,” she said.

Osogo asked the ministry to reinforce their monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure drugs and functional equipment are available in hospitals.

The MP said many residents seeking services such as CT scan cannot get them, since they are not available locally.

She, however, commended Governor Gladys Wanga for her commitment in working with other health partners that can ensure the county’s health sector is revived, even as she promised to support her.

The MP spoke on Friday during the launch of Greater Rachuonyo Community Based Organisation in Kosele Town Hall Rachuonyo South subcounty.

The legislator recalled that she had promised during her campaigns to start a CBO to help her constituents save through partnership with Family Bank and be able to get loans that can help transform their lives.

“I am one person who does not believe in handouts, I believe in empowering people to make them start out and grow,” she said, adding that the child to be nurtured and grow is now the Community Based Organisation, which they have registered and already had a certificate.

During the launch of the CBO, whose membership is mostly women, the MP invited Kenya Women Parliamentary Association lead consultant Brian Weke, to train the CBO members to understand women advocacy and women leadership.

“I want them to be roped in so that they journey in my line to make Homa Bay county vibrant,” she said.

She promised to form and expand more CBOs for youth, boda bodas and Mama mbogas, saying the Greater Rachuonyo Community Based Organisation is just but the beginning.
