Leaders and residents of Homa Bay have continued to send their congratulatory messages to Raymond Omollo after his appointment as a Principal Secretary.
President William Ruto on Wednesday appointed Omollo as the Principal Secretary to the State Department for Interior and National Administration.
Omollo is among the 51 Kenyans who got the appointments after Public Service Commission advertised, shortlisted and forwarded their names to the president for formal appointment.
In a statement sent to journalists, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and former Karachuonyo MP James Rege welcomed the appointment saying President Ruto has indicated that he is ready to work with all communities across the country.
They said the president has reaffirmed his commitment to embracing all communities in Kenya for the sake of development.
Kidero argued that Omollo is a professional who has displayed excellent and outstanding performance in various institutions and organizations he has served.
Until his appointment, Omollo was the managing director at Lake Basin Development Authority.
Omollo is the one who was supposed to represent President Ruto in a fund drive at Homa Bay Africa Inland Church on October 2, 2022, before the president decided to come on himself.
“Special thanks to President William Ruto for according Omollo an opportunity to serve in the capacity of PS interior and national administration,” Kidero said.
Rege urged residents in Luo-Nyanza to appreciate the good gesture President Ruto has shown and work closely with the government for the sake of development.
“Elections are now behind us and what we focused on is development. Kenya is already peaceful and we need to use the opportunity existing to do development,” Rege said.
Resident Okano Nyasanja said many people are currently faced with a lot of economic challenges which require national government interventions.
He argued that the national government has about 85 per cent of the total resources which can be used for development.
Nyasanja said many Kenyans still need water, good roads and other development to improve their livelihoods.
“We thank President Ruto for seeing it wise to appoint Omollo as PS. As Homa Bay people we’re ready to work with the government of the day,” Nyasanja said
