It was a horrific ending for Mama Margaret Auma.

Her killers gouged out both her eyes, shaved her head before cutting it off - or after - and left the 64-year-old granny’s naked body in a bathing shed behind her house.

Her head was found lying in a pool of blood.

No one knows why Auma was subjected to such dumbfounding barbarity.

She lived with her husband Shadrack Okoyo and their grandchildren in Kabonyo village in Kakangutu sublocation,  Kabondo Kasipul constituency.

It is the grandchildren who discovered the bloodied body and informed their grandfather who was away in another home.

Margaret Auma lived in peace with her neighbours and never had trouble with anyone, the husband said.

Okoyo said the murder must have been planned before the execution. He said his wife was humble and did not like controversies.

“As a family, we would want to get justice in this murder incident. Let the police move with speed, arrest and charge those who were involved in the killing,” Okoyo said.

He begged the police to expedite investigations and bring to book the suspects who killed his wife.

Area assistant chief Kenyatta Olel said it looked like the woman was tortured before she was killed.

“We believed the suspects subjected the woman to torture before they killed her. They removed her two eyes and shaved her dreadlocks,” Olel said.

Speaking over the matter on Tuesday, the administrator said they reported the case to Othoro police station for further investigations.

He said the suspects disappeared with weapons used for killing the elderly woman.

“Many people are wondering why the woman was killed since she used to pray for the sick and offer intercession to them,” he added.

Homa Bay county police boss Samson Kinne said they were looking for people behind the murder. He asked residents with the information about the suspects to inform them.

He said murder were becoming rampant in Kabondo Kasipul. The body was moved to Rachuonyo Level 4 Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
