Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has promised to look into having a public university in Nyamira after consultations with the local leadership on where it should be stationed.

He further, promised to fast-track the upgrading of Ekerubo Gietai Technical Training Institute to a national polytechnic.

The CS spoke in Nyamira county on Tuesday when he attended the World Malaria Day celebrations.

“We are in consultation with the local leadership to see how we can address the lack of a university in Nyamira as this will be a milestone because a university will be a good investment in the county,” Machogu said.

The Education CS also said the ministry will ensure education standards in the country are improved under his tenure.

Machogu said despite challenges in the sector the government is working to ensure everything is streamlined for the better.

He urged stakeholders to join hands and ensure the education of Kenyan children is a success.

“We are working day and night to ensure the education of our children is improved through providing the necessary support to offer a bright future for our children,” Machogu said.

Machogu registered his appreciation for last year's examination performance, saying the good grades motivate his ministry to invest in education.
