Man succumbs to stab wounds after attack by stepson

Police in Bondo, Siaya County are investigating a murder incident where a stepson allegedly stabbed and killed a father on Monday.

Maurice Okoth, 39, of Sanda village in Usenge sublocation was allegedly stabbed in the chest by the stepson of a woman he had reportedly taken in as a wife a month earlier.

Okoth was first treated at Afya Tele Hospital in Usenge before heading back home where he was discovered dead in the house at around 9:00 pm.

Bondo subcounty police commander Robert Aboki confirmed the incident saying that the 15-year-old suspect, was arrested Tuesday morning and is now awaiting arraignment.

The deceased worked as a security guard at Sanda Primary School in Usenge.

"Investigations are on to establish what transpired but preliminary reports indicate that the suspect had a disagreement with his stepfather," Aboki said.

The deceased had reportedly requested the suspect to stand in for him at his place of work because he wanted to attend to some other urgent issue.

"The boy reportedly refused thus the bitter disagreement and stabbing," the police boss said.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the Bondo subcounty mortuary awaiting autopsy.
