Kisii Governor Simba Arati Wednesday lashed out at Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua for opposing the redeployment of security back to Azimio affiliate governors.
Speaking in Bomachoge Borabu, Arati accused Gachagua of playing archaic politics that has lost salt.
"There is absolutely no reason for governors to be denied security just because they are not in government. We all serve Kenyans irrespective of our political affiliations," Arati said.
Arati was among ODM governors whose security was recalled for backing anti-government protests.
Kisii town recorded demonstrations leading to the loss of lives and the destruction of property.
At least three people were shot dead by police during Saba Saba protests alone.
On Wednesday, Arati said there was nothing wrong with belonging to the opposition.
"The constitution enshrines all the rights to belong to a society or a party and enjoy the full freedoms of speech. We should not be denied security for expressing an opinion," he said.
He was speaking during the groundbreaking function for an industrial park at Tongeri in Bomachoge Borabu in Kisii.
Arati said he would not any time soon change his brand of politics to appease anybody in government.
"We are not going to grovel before him in order to secure our security staff back. Personally, I will not do that, wananchi alone can give me the protection I need," he said.
Gachagua, he said, should carry himself with dignity deserved of the status of a Deputy President.
The County Aggregation and Industrial Park will be co-funded by the National and County governments.
Already the national government has promised Sh500 million to kick start the project which is projected to employ hundreds of youth when finalised.
Arati urged the residents to capitalise on farming to benefit from the park. Other similar industrial parks will be set up in Migori and Nyamira.
Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria graced the groundbreaking event.
