A Kisii Assembly Ward Rep, also President William Ruto's ardent supporter, has been suspended from House sittings over gross misconduct.
The House and Privileges Committee Wednesday questioned the conduct of Bouse Mairura (Masimba) after a contingent of police in riot gear stormed the assembly precincts causing a scare to his colleagues.
The invitation of the armed officers was cited as a violation of Assembly rules.
Mairura was accused of failing to enforce the provision in the guide of rules and regulations worth of the conduct of the County Assembly when he 'allowed the unwarranted presence of the officers'.
"The admission of 'strangers into the Assembly precincts sparked tension and unnecessary attention both from the media and members of the public," a report presented to the Assembly Wednesday afternoon said.
House Majority Leader Henry Moracha (ODM) moved the censure motion against the UDA Ward Rep.
The debate was, however, not without sideshows as one member sauntered into the chambers with a vuvuzela momentarily causing a disruption.
Undaunted, the House went ahead to slap Mairura with one one-month calendar ban.
"Based on the above recommendations, and having reviewed the sanctions provided,... The committee finds you in gross conduct of breach of privilege and recommends that you be suspended from the precincts of the Assembly for a period of one assembly calendar month, "said Moracha.
The House, but for a few, unanimously voted that he remain suspended
