UPA party National Governing Council members, among them Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo during a meeting at Kamel Park Hotel in Kisii on Monday, October 23rd, 2023.

Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo on Monday told off his Kisii counterpart Simba Arati in regards to a row over the border at Keroka town.

Nyaribo said there is no need for further political conversations on the matter as a team would be on site erecting beacons that separate the two devolved units.

"I don't think Keroka has any political dimension. We asked the national government which sent a team and raised the coordinates to erect the beacons, so what are we discussing, there is nothing," Nyaribo told journalists in Kisii.

"Arati is my brother but even as brothers you may disagree but now that the beaconing has been done let each keep his lane and stay within his homestead."

The Nyamira Governor was speaking to journalists shortly after chairing the United Progressives Alliance, UPA, party meeting at Kamel Park Hotel in Kisii.

He said plans are underway to increase the Party's visibility in Kenyan politics by 2027 through a massive member recruitment drive.

Already the recruitment has started in both Kisii and Nyamira counties where it has 20 elected leaders.

"The task to recruit more members in the Coast, Rift Valley, Western and North Eastern is on course," Nyaribo said.

The Kisii meeting was attended by National Governing Council and NGC officials.

The party would be conducting mobilisation and registration training.

"We are starting at home, on the 6th of next month we will be in Nakuru, and later head out to the coast. As a community we need this party to help us bargain better on the national front," Nyaribo told journalists.

On Gusii unity bid, Nyaribo said though the agenda is currently wracked with divisions, there is a flicker of hope especially if the community leaders rally them behind UPA.

Party secretary general Jacob Bagaka said UPA was the party to watch in 2027.

"We are targeting at least 20,000 members in the next few days as we move forward to increase our visibility in the country's political map, "he said.

" We welcome all and sundry to join us especially those who feel aggrieved with the injustices in their current parties. This is the party for the future that is inclusive, both in gender, youth and the disabled."

Separately, the Nyamira Governor condemned the Monday night attack on his Education executive and a nominee to the County Assembly in Borabu, Nyamira county.

"I have already asked police to speed up a probe into it. It appears to bear the hallmarks of politically engineered taking into account the fact that some people had in the recent past sounded threats to people who support me," Nyaribo stated.
