Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga on Thursday played host to the US Ambassador in Kenya Meg Whitman at the County headquarters.

Wanga held a press briefing with the envoy and other county leaders to discuss collaboration and improvement of service delivery.

"It was an honour to welcome H.E Meg Whitman, the US Ambassador to the county Headquarters," Wanga said on her X platform.

"We arranged for a guard of honour, a courtesy call and a meeting with county leadership at our monthly county roundtable, as well as a joint press briefing to discuss collaboration and improving service delivery."

The county chief termed the visit by Whitman as an opportunity to strengthen ties between the county and the US and also a means to pave the way for future collaboration.

Wanga had been earlier mentioned among the best-performing governors in the country, according to survey company Infotrak.

She had emerged top in a list of 25 governors, where she scored an average of 70 per cent.

The survey dubbed CountyTrak was conducted between July and September 2023, covering all 47 counties, 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards with an overall sample of 58,748.

The first survey was conducted between July and August 2023 involving 36,200 participants.

"The second survey involving 22,500 participants was conducted to boost the sample size so that each subcounty had at least 200 respondents," Infotrak said.
