Kenyans should give President William Ruto more time to turn around the economy, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys boss has said.

Gladys boss on Saturday said the rising cost of living is a result of the depreciation of the Kenyan shilling and the shortage of dollars in the country.

“The hard economic situation we’re experiencing is due to a shortage of dollars. The government is putting strategies to tackle it and we should be a little patient,” Gladys said.

She spoke during a fundraiser at Bware Kabondo SDA Church in Kabondo Kasipul constituency where she was hosted by former area MP Silvance Osele and former Ndhiwa MP Agostino Neto.

She said Kenyans had a lot of expectations and wanted quick results from President Ruto’s government after taking over power.

According to Gladys boss, the escalating cost of living has not been caused by high fuel prices as people may think but imbalance of trade.

She added that the government may use tough methods and approaches to address the current high cost of living but they are hopeful that the economic situation will be better.

“Even a baby cannot walk immediately they are born. The Kenyan problem is not the escalating cost of fuel as some people think. The problem is that we import more goods than we export,” she said.

Osele and Neto asked Nyanza residents to work closely with President Ruto's administration to enable them to acquire development projects.

Osele said a number of development projects have been initiated in Nyanza region with the intention of improving their living standards.

“The government has constructed for us a good tarmacked road in Kabondo Kasipul and it has plans to construct more. It has also undertaken mega development projects in other constituencies in Nyanza. Let us cooperate with the government," Osele said.

Neto urged Nyanza residents to support President Ruto both in his development and political agenda. He called on all politicians from the region to work together for better coexistence.

“It’s important to support President Ruto because he has shown us that he can do more in development and work for the Kenyans,” Neto said.
