It was a Christmas come early for the hundreds of Kisumu County residents who benefited from a free medical camp organised by woman representative Ruth Odinga.

As part of her efforts to support the Senior Citizens under the Social Protection Component, the MP, in partnership with Maisha Meds, organised a medical camp at the Ofafa Memorial Hall compound where over 1000 people were treated.

The doctors and nurses who took part in the medical camp offered free Malaria testing and treatment and free eye checkups which targeted the elderly.

A total of 350 elderly people received Tazama Reading Glasses for age-related farsightedness at no cost.

Patients also received a Free blood sugar checkup.

The services were offered during the coronation of KER Odungi Randa.

The MP and Maisha Meds whose platform is used to develop a last-mile pharmacy network, manage medication supply chains and pool resources to negotiate better prices for patients took advantage of the Friday event to reach the residents for the medical camp.

Speaking to journalists, the woman representative thanked those who turned up for the activity.

"This kind of medical camp has been going on in all the 7 sub-counties within Kisumu and our people have benefited immensely," she said.

Mzee Joshua Okoth 78, from Muhoroni Constituency, was amongst the beneficiaries who received a reading glass.

He is suffering from age-related farsightedness and was grateful for the services that were offered by the medical team.

"We are grateful to our MP and Maisha Meds team for this kind gesture," he said.
