Kisii elders have ordered political leaders in the region to give six goats each for a communal sacrifice aimed at ending raging skirmishes in the region.

The occasion has already been scheduled to take place at Manga Hills on February 1, 2024.

Four leaders have been summoned to attend the function.

Elders from Mwanyagetinge Heritage Council said they have already communicated to Governor Simba Arati and South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro over the event.

Also ordered to donate goats for the county cleansing are Woman Rep Donya Toto and Senator Richard Onyonka.

A total number of 24 goats would be slaughtered during the function.

"It is all about atoning for the blood that has already spilt since the bad blood between the leaders began," group chair Nyakundi Kirera told journalists.

The elders spoke amid protests Monday against the South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro.

The demonstration took place in the Nyabisabo area where calls for mutual respect and cordial working relationships among the political leaders were made.

"We as residents of Nyaribari Masaba and Nyaribari Masaba are still perturbed by the failure of Osoro to accord the governor due respect. If he doesn't want to, we shall force him to show respect," Tom Nyagaka, a resident said.

Inse Inse, a female activist, said Osoro was wasting his time trading barbs with the governor.

"We have already decided to wage war against you until you apologise, "Inse said.

She told Arati to remain unwavering in the face of the attacks from his opponents.

Paul Ogechi, another protester told Osoro to give Arati easy time to undertake development.

"He has already given us bursaries and is planning to do more, he needs ample time," he said.

Speaking in Kisii, the elders said it was high time the skirmishes between the leaders ended for the sake of harmony and development.

Some elders said things are not going well in the growing animosity.
