Early campaigns have kicked off in Nyamira’s Nyamaiya ward due to a by-election that will be coming up in the ward.

The by-election comes months after the death of Nyamaiya MCA  Elijah Osiemo who also doubled as the leader of majority in the county assembly.

Speaking at the ward on Wednesday, various leaders drummed support for the late MCA’s brother Chris Osiemo who they said is the one who should take over from his late brother to continue with the vision of the deceased MCA.

The late MCA met his death on August 7, last year along Naivasha Nairobi highway at Mai Mahiu in a grisly accident.

He was travelling with Nyamira Township Ward MCA Duke Masira who also was the Deputy Majority leader in the Nyamira Assembly and Nominated MCA Priscilla Nyatichi.

The three were travelling to Nairobi for a meeting when the driver of the vehicle they were travelling in lost control leading to the death of the then leader of majority.

UPA nominated MCA Jeriah Nyakang’i urged Nyamaiya ward residents to support the late MCA brother as a sign of giving back to the family of the deceased whom they described as visionary and someone who had great dreams for the ward.

“We are sure Chris will follow in the footsteps of his late brother who had great ambitions for the people of Nyamaiya ward. That is why we want to call all of you to support him when the time comes so that he can achieve what his brother had in mind,” Nyakang’i said.

UPA Party youth leader Kepha Moenga said it would be a good thing for the residents of Nyamaiya ward to give support to the deceased MCA’s brother for they know his potential and influence in the community and now in the UPA party.

On his side, the Nyamira governor who is also the UPA Party boss urged locals to support his candidate.

“This ward had given us a young and visionary leader, whose politics was influential and development-oriented. Let us support his brother for the better of the ward since I know what he can do in matters of development and politics,” Nyaribo said.
