A section of Kisii residents have urged for mutual respect between Deputy President's Rigathi Gachagua and his boss President William Ruto.

Group leader Ben Nyamwaro described Gachagua as a statesman who is firmly committed to the country's development agenda.

"In the face of what we are witnessing, we stand here to openly say we are behind Gachagua and President William Ruto. We want the two leaders to work together," stated Nyamwaro during a press conference in Kisii on Wednesday.

Kenya, stated Nyamwaro, cannot move forward at the right pace in the absence of a functional working relationship between the duo.

Nyatichi Mogire, a youth leader, said Gachagua has constantly vouched for unity and peace in the country and thus should not be sacrificed on the alter if some people's ego battles.

She said Gachagua was the sole voice of reason in the face of the friction between the two leaders.

"As young people, we call upon anybody trying to paint the DP negatively to desist. We have already witnessed enough bloodshed and cannot afford such unnecessary divisions," she told journalists.

Judy Mongare, a women leader told off those fighting Gachagua.

"We voted them while together and they should finish together not with the shenanigans we are seeing. As women we are solidly supportive of development," she said.
