CS Wandayi praises Ruto and Raila, rallies Nyanza to back state

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has rallied his Nyanza backyard to support President William Ruto's broad-based government.

Wandayi noted that this was a turning point for the people of the region and Kenya as a whole.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service in his home in Ugunja on Friday, Wandayi expressed his deep satisfaction with the current political landscape, noting the widespread happiness and support from his community.

"I am overjoyed to see our people’s happiness and their agreement that being in government is beneficial for us all," he said.

This was the first time he was visiting the region and his home after he was appointed the Energy CS.

CS Wandayi also commended the bold decision by Raila Odinga to allow ODM members to join President Ruto's executive.

"We are most grateful to our leader Raila Odinga for making this bold decision. This is a defining moment for our nation. It is the turning point we have long awaited," Wandayi said.

He emphasized the significance of this inclusive approach adding that adding

"Our journey towards national unity begins now and our commitment is to ensure that every corner of Kenya benefits from the development agenda," the CS added.

Wandayi also praised President Ruto for his efforts to unite Kenyans.

"We thank the President for taking the opportunity to bring Kenyans together. This is a historic moment that we cannot forget ".

He assured the people that he would work diligently for all Kenyans and ensure adequate service delivery to the people.

"My work is to support the President in ensuring that electricity reaches every home within the country and that every Kenyan receives adequate services," the Energy CS said.

Interior PS Raymond Omollo who was present at the event noted that the people of Ugunja are giving the country one of their best so the region is letting him loose to go and work for the people of Kenya.

He said that the people appointed by the President should take the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people.

Ps Omollo noted that as they work on electrification. He said Ruto's administration is determined to push electrification to at least 80 per cent within the region.

"Now you have a big task to ensure that the dream is realised," he said

He told the CS "Together with your other colleagues, who have joined the cabinet as part of the team that works in the executive, we assure you of our commitment, and support so that we make it proper and easy for President Ruto's manifesto"

The leaders' sentiments were echoed by MPs Elisha Odhiambo(Gem),  Koyoo James(Muhoroni),Jonson Manya(Mumias West), Tindi Mwale(Butere), Lilian Gogo(Rangwe), Migori Senator Eddy Oketch and Siaya county assembly speaker George Okode.

MP Atandi said Raila had given them a go-ahead to work with the government adding that CS Wandayi was destined for greater things and this was just the beginning.

He emphasized that Wandayi, despite his new role, remains a dedicated politician committed to helping run the government effectively.

"The government is only bad when your people are not there, but once our people are there, the government is good, we cannot fight a government we are part of," Atandi said.

He added that they are committed to backing their people in the government so they can perform well for all Kenyans.

Speaker Okode underscored the significance of the appointments they signal and clearly manifests that Siaya has embraced this development.

He told President Ruto that it's important to remember that he is working with someone who is deeply loved by his people.

"Our community will not be pleased if he is mistreated.”

Okode highlighted that the appointment benefits not just the people of Ugunja but all Kenyans.
