Governor Ayacko welcomes Ruto ahead of 4-day Nyanza tour

The President is expected to launch development projects in the Luo Nyanza region.

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko has welcomed the move by President William Ruto to visit various parts of the country to launch developmental projects.

Speaking to the media at his official residence on Tuesday, Ayacko said they expect several development goodies during the president's visit

They include the expansion of the airstrip in Lichota and the completion of unfinished roads.

President Ruto will begin his four-day tour of Luo Nyanza this Wednesday.

His first stop will be Migori County where he will launch the Kegonga water project in Kuria East Subcounty, inspect the Lower Kuja Irrigation Project and launch the Ngege-Mapera Road.

Ayako said the president is expected to visit a previously launched project in Lower Kuja to ensure the efficient distribution of water to diverse homesteads within the county.

“We are hoping that the inspection of the lower Kuja Irrigation project will unleash the full agricultural potential of Migori through the rejuvenation of Nyatike's fertile lands,” Ayacko said.

Migori boss said he would put in memoranda various road projects like the unfinished Masara-Sori road, the operationalisation of the Getonganya sweet potato processing plant and the border disputes along the Narok-Migori counties.

Nyatike MP, Tom Odenge,  said the people of Nyatike would present a petition to President Ruto to revoke the gazettement of  Macalder forest.
