Armed gangsters struck Amlight Resources company in the Rarieda subcounty, Siaya, barely a fortnight after a similar raid saw the gold mining firm lose property worth millions of shillings.

The company is situated in Ramba village, Central Asembo location.

In the latest raid, thugs are said to have struck shortly after 1.00 am armed with crude weapons, tied up the night guards before vandalising property and setting ablaze two excavators.

Speaking to the media at the company premises, lawyer Danstan Omari said this was the sixth attack this year and nothing has been done to put a stop to the perennial attacks.

He said the company on each occasion reported to the security agencies and filed cases in court.

Omari said he has on several occasions been trailed by suspicious people in a bid to scare him from representing the company.

“Some authorities seem to have been compromised to frustrate the justice process,” Omari said.

He said they will demand all pending court cases involving Amlight Resources be transferred outside Siaya County.

He said they were contemplating suing the police for refusing to protect the company property despite several requests being made on the same.

Amlight Resources Company Limited Director Amos Mabonga blamed security agencies for the woes affecting his company.

Mabonga said his competitors have unleashed goons who have been trailing him.

"Two weeks ago armed gangsters raided the firm and took off with equipment worth millions of shillings after breaking the perimeter wall and destroying offices and workshops," Mabonga said.
