Police in Kisii are investigating an incident in which a 32-year-old woman was found dead at Mwamogesa Moraa village in Kitutu Central Subcounty on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, the deceased identified as Molly Achieng’, who was residing in the neighbouring village, was found lying dead in a pool of blood beside a napier grass plantation with visible injuries on the head and face.

Area Assistant Chief Brian Otieno said the deceased was a businesswoman at Daraja Mbili market and might have been targeted while going about her daily activities.

Police have appealed to members of the public to give information about the incident to enable them to apprehend the culprits and ensure they are brought to book.

The body has been moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTR) for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

Residents called for more patrols and emphasised the need for collaboration between the community and security agencies to ensure the safety of residents, which has been undermined by a surge in crime incidents.
