Two ODM MPs from Nyanza want President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua to settle their differences and focus on steering the nation's economic growth.

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi and his Gem counterpart Elisha Odhiambo said the ongoing spats between Ruto and Gachagua threaten to polarise the country.

Omondi said Kenya needs peace and political stability to realise full economic recovery which can only be achieved through peaceful co-existence among the leaders.

“Many Kenyans want a conducive environment for business to thrive because they need development. The country cannot grow economically if its leaders engage in endless squabbles,” Omondi said.

Speaking on Sunday during a gospel music competition at Homa Bay Central SDA Church in Homa Bay Town constituency, the two MPs said they want a stable country and urged Gachagua to stop making statements that injure his reputation.

“The fallout requires immediate attention. They should stop and look for a solution that will benefit the majority of Kenyans,” he said.

Odhiambo challenged Gachagua to stop statements that could injure Ruto's reputation and presidential functions.

He accused Gachagua and his allies of developing a habit of throwing tantrums at the President during their functions.

“I challenge DP Gachagua to stop his troops from attacking the President in his functions if they truly support peace. Let him control his allies,” Odhiambo said.

Some MPs in Gachagua's camp have been accused of making inflammatory statements which can polarise communities in the country.

Interior PS Raymond Omollo called for peace and asked Kenyans to shun leaders who want to breach peace.

“We need peace to enable us to have a conducive environment for development in our country,” Omollo said.
