BOMET Governor Isaac Rutto has awarded multimillion- shilling tenders to close family members, the Star has learnt. Documents exclusively obtained by the Star show three companies associated with Rutto – Rumic Construction and Civil Engineering, Tundo Roadcon and Ericson – won tenders for mega projects.

Rumic was registered on June 19, 2013. Information at the Registrar of Companies shows its director is Micah Kiplangat, Rutto’s son. Documents show Rumic and Tundo Roadcon, whose directors are Joyce Tirop, Rutto’s sister, and his son Gilbert Ngetich, were the only companies working on Chepalungu constituency’s projects, worth Sh21 million in 2014.

The two companies won tenders to transport red soil during the construction of Bomet Stadium. Rumic won a tender worth Sh15 million while Tundo Roadcon raked in Sh10 million. Rutto, appearing before a Senate committee recently, denied any wrongdoing, saying there is no law stopping him from giving tenders to anyone other than his spouse or child.
