United Democratic Alliance candidate for Rongai parliamentary seat Paul Chebor is now the MP-elect.
Chebor trounced his closest competitor and incumbent MP Raymond Moi to win the seat.
Moi was vying on the independent party ticket, Kanu.
Chebor garnered 27,021 votes in the election with Moi coming in distant second with 14,715 votes.
Former area MP, Luka Kigen was third with 593 votes.
Moi was seeking a third term in office after having served for the last two consecutive terms.
Speaking after being declared the Rongai MP-elect at Nakuru Technical Training College, Chebor pledged to work with his competitors for the betterment of the people of Rongai.
He thanked the electorate for trusting him with the leadership role and pledged to maintain peace .
The area MP elections were cancelled on August 9 over alleged mix-up of ballot papers.
The elections were rescheduled to Monday August 29.
The election was marred with low voter turn out as only 50 percent of the registered voters came out to vote.
Rongai has 84,625 registered voters.
