State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito has dared Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku to form his proposed Maa party “if he is man enough”.

Metito made the remarks in Kajiado West, home to former Jubilee MP Moses Sakuda. He was among leaders who joined the ruling United Democratic Alliance party.

“If you are a man enough, come with your village party. We are waiting for you to realise your dreams of forming  Maa party to challenge UDA at the grassroots,” Metito told Governor Lenku.

Lenku separately said his move is unstoppable in the formation of a party that will campaign for President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.

He said that his party will not be challenging the ruling party in any way.

Lenku, during a phone interview, said he could not respond to Metito’s remarks because they were not made in his presence.

But Metito said he was offering to tell Lenku the truth of the matter by telling him that he (Lenku) with end up “standing alone” in the 2027 general election in his “village” party.

“Lenku will not even get one single seat for an MCA. We are telling him not to attempt and retract from forming his village party,” Metito said.

He told Lenku to borrow a leaf from Prof James Ole Kiyiapi, who he said had formed a political party and even ran for presidency, but only got one seat for an MCA in Taita Taveta.

The State House Comptroller, who lost his gubernatorial race in 2022, to Lenku, said the governor must stop misleading Kajiado Maasai.

“Politics is about numbers and a lot of mathematics, my friend. Come and face us in broad daylight with your village party. Open your eyes wide,” Metito told Lenku.

Some of the leaders present and who defected to UDA from Jubilee are former governor David Nkedianye, Simayiai Rakita, who contested for the Kajiado Woman Representative seat, and some 10 sitting MCAs.

Others from UDA were George Sunkuyia (MP Kajiado West), Woman Representative Leah Sankaire, Daniel Tinaai, Francis Meja, Benjamin Kool and Kajiado Central MP Elija Memusi.

Metito told Nkedianye to take former Kajiado North MP Joseph Manje to UDA.

Memusi called on Metito to use all avenues in government to rid of corruption in Kajiado county, adding that the government can redeem the county from bad books of alleged corruption.

“We want to save Kajiado from falling and the government should now come to investigate what we are claiming,” Memusi said.

Lenku in past political rallies has sworn several times that his party will be launched in all the Maa counties in Samburu, Narok, Kajiado and Laikipia.

He has lined up nominated Senator Peris Tobiko, Kajiado East MP Kakuta Maimai, Kajiado Noth MP Onesmus Ngogoyo, Senator Kanar Seki and Kajiado MP Samuel Sakimba to fight Metito in the 2027 general election.

It is rumoured that Lenku is secretly fronting his deputy, Martin Moshisho, for the governor seat.

Moshisho hails from the Kajiado Maasai Odomong’i clan, which Metito and Nkedianye also come from.

Meanwhile, while the State House Comptroller was in Kimuka, the governor was attending a thanksgiving ceremony in the Oloosirkon-Sholinke ward.

The thanksgiving ceremony was for the recently appointed Trade, Investment and Enterprise Development executive Leas Marias in her Erankau home.

Lenku was accompanied by Kajiado East MP, Kakuta Maimai, Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho, senators Kanar Seki and Peris Tobiko and the local MCA Marush Kisemei.
