Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has expressed excitement over the latest ranking of his county as the best performing in service delivery.

In its latest survey, pollster firm Infotrak ranked Uasin  Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet as the best in service delivery.

The two counties performed top in agriculture, trade, education, roads and transport among others.

CEO of Infotrak Angela Ambitho said the survey had shown that second term governors tend to relax after winning reelection unlike the first term county chiefs.

Governor Bii stepped up his county development tours in Uasin Gishu as he criticised those who had claimed he was under performing.

"They go to the extent of faking reports ranking us as worst performers. Now the truth has come out," Bii said.

He said his vision and Nguzi Kumi (10- point) development agenda was a well thought out plan which he will work to implement.

Bii is carrying out a month-long tour of all county wards to implement new projects and meet with residents a year after he was elected.

His team has been praised for wide success in the first year in office during which the governor initiated life impacting projects.

The key successes include strengthening of ECDE learning where Bii employed 1,200 teachers on permanent terms.

Governor Bii who is popularly known as koti moja, also introduced a free school milk programme known as ‘maziwa ya koti’ for the ECDEs.

The free school milk plan has helped to increase enrolment to the ECDE units by an extra 4,000 children during the last three months.

The same programme has seen positive growth in the livestock farming and dairy sectors in the region.

Bii has led the county to expand agriculture and also the cooperatives sector.

"These are key sectors that if well expanded, will help to transform the lives of our people by creating wealth and jobs," Bii said.

The governor has spearheaded a major rehabilitation of key county institutions in Uasin Gishu especially Eldoret town, which is now gearing for elevation to city status.

The institutions which have been rehabilitated include the  county headquarters, the county hospital, fire station, TAC Centre and the Pioneer Homecraft centre among others.

Eldoret and other urban centres in the region have been given a face lift with new road and street lights to improve security.

He has also ensured improvement of more than 800km of roads.

Bii said Eldoret is now ripe for city status with residents applauding the governor for leading the major rehabilitation of several institutions in the town centre and other parts of the county.
