Nakuru’s Trinity Mission Girls Football team will tomorrow face off with the giant Wiyieta Football team to determine the Rift Valley Regional Girls champion in the ongoing Chapa Dimba Tournament.

This is after Trinity beat Itigo Girls from Nandi 2:0 in an entertaining semi-final game at a fully-packed Nakuru Agricultural Society of Kenya Showground Arena.

Wiyieta Girls from Trans Nzoia beat Narok’s Ol-Melil Girls two goals to nil to get a slot in the regional finals.

In the Boys, defending champions Laiser Boys of Kajiado gave Nakuru’s Mwenge Football a tough whooping with four goals to one in the regional semis.

On the other hand, Pasc Langa of Uasin Gishu who will also be in the finals beat Ndura Sports of Trans Nzoia with six goals to five.

Pasc Langa came from zero goals in the first half to tie with Ndura and directly proceeded to a penalty shoot-out after the expiry of regular time. Ndura lost two penalty shots while Pasc Langa lost one.

The winning boys’ and girls’ teams at the regional level will take home Sh250,000 and book a slot to represent the Rift Valley region at the national finals set for early next year.

The winners will join Ebwali Boys and Brenda Girls from the Western region who have already played and won their regional finals.

From Nyanza, Plateau Queens alias Nyakach Girls and Obunga FC have already booked their tickets to the national finals.

The runners-up teams at the regional level will take home Sh150,000 each while outstanding players, both boys and girls, the Best Goalkeeper, top scorer, and the Most Valuable Player (Golden Ball) will also receive Sh30,000 each.

Safaricom PLC Chief Executive Officer, Peter Ndegwa said the company, through  Chapa Dimba, aims to nurture young football talents by giving them a platform to showcase their talents and an opportunity to earn a decent livelihood.

He said the talent development initiative aims to provide a structured platform for scouts and coaches to tap into new talent and build feeder systems for the Kenyan football leagues across the country
