Residents of Naivasha are in shock after a pregnant woman was murdered and the body dumped off the Moi South Lake road.

The body of the woman in her mid-20s was found near the sanctuary area with fresh wounds on her hands, neck and head.

The incident came a day after the body of a missing girl was found dumped off the Nairobi-Nakuru highway near Kinale forest by members of the public.

In the latest case, the half-naked body that was covered by shrubs was found by herders who in turn informed the police.

A witness, Peter Were said that they suspected that the woman was murdered elsewhere and ferried to the scene.

He said that the woman did not hail from the area, adding that there were visible injuries on various parts of the body inflicted by a sharp object.

“It’s evident that this woman was murdered elsewhere and the body ferried to the scene as no one around this estate knows her,” he said.

Naivasha Deputy OCPD Samuel Ooro confirmed the incident adding that the body had since been collected and taken to the local mortuary.

He said that initial investigations pointed to murder noting that the body had been dumped at the scene by the killers.

“Members of the public have recovered the body of a woman in her mid-20s who looks pregnant and we have started investigations,” he said.

Meanwhile, a group of passengers escaped death narrowly after a matatu driver rammed into a trailer in Naivasha to protest his arrest by county enforcement officers.

During the incident along Naivasha-Mai Mahiu Road, one of the officers was left nursing wounds on his legs while the other passengers escaped with slight injuries.

The driver had been arrested by the county officers in Mai Mahiu Town for picking up passengers away from the matatu terminus.

A witness Alice Wanja said that the irate driver sped off with three officers in the matatu before ramming the lorry that was destined for Naivasha.

“One of the county officers was injured on the leg while the driver was arrested as he tried to flee from the scene of the incident,” she said.
