Detectives testify on 1 hour raid at Maina Njenga's house

Say 20 officers from Nakuru West subcounty, Nakuru East, Lanet and Bahati were present

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) testified on a 5 am raid at the house of former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga on May 12, 2023.

Officer Athumani Asmani testified that they assembled at Lanet Police station at about 4 am.

Asmani told Principal Magistrate Kipkurui Kibelion that about 20 officers from Nakuru West Sub County, Nakuru East, Lanet and Bahati were present.

"I was called at night and I was informed that we were to conduct a raid at Maina Njenga's house," he testified.

He said that they left the police station and proceeded to Njenga's house where uniformed officers proceeded to the gate.

"The team led by Senior Superintendent Wesley Langat instructed one of the accused, Daudi Mwangi, to open the gate before we all made entry," he said.

Asmani testified that at first, Mwangi who was also the caretaker resisted but after 15 minutes he opened the gate.
