A  protester was on Tuesday roughed up by goons at Kanamkemer ward in Turkana County.

In a video seen by the Star, the protester can be heard asking why he is being beaten yet he has done no wrong.

He said he was out in the streets protesting on behalf of the jobless.

"Mbona mnanipiga bure? Mimi nimekuja kutetea mtu ambaye ako nyumbani hana kazi. Mbona mimi mnataka kunipiga?" he asked.

This is loosely translated to, "Why are you beating me for nothing? I have come for the sake of the person who is at home unemployed. Why do you want to beat me?"

Someone asks him who beat him, before pointing at a man asking that he be recorded.

The said man is then seen hitting the protester who runs away from him.

Kenyans in different parts of the country turned up in their respective towns to protest against the government.

On Monday, activist Boniface Mwangi confirmed that the peaceful protests will go down as planned until the government takes some form of responsibility for the deceased protesters.

"So let's not think we have won anything yet because we don’t have anything tangible we can say we have won. Why can’t the President call the families of those who died and apologise because he hasn’t done any of that," he said.
