Maize buying mission turns tragic as two men are killed in Moiben

Police say they are investigating the incident and so far no suspect has been arrested

Two people including a lorry turnboy and a villager were attacked and hacked to death by uknown people at Tugen estate in Uasin Gishu county.

Moiben sub-county police boss Stephen Okal said the turnboy and a driver of the lorry had gone to the area to buy maize when their vehicle broke down on Sunday night.

Police say the driver left the turnboy to guard the lorry as he went to look for a spare part in Eldoret town more than 30 km away.

The turnboy then sought the company of a resident to help him guard the lorry as they waited for the driver to return.

“As the two waited they were attacked by an unknown group of people and hacked to death," Okal said.

The sub-county police boss said the driver returned to find his loader and the villager killed.

Okal said they were investigating the incident and so far no suspect had been arrested

Bodies of the two have been taken to Moi Referral Hospital while the lorry was moved to a nearby police station

The maize was to be transported to Kutus in Kirinyaga County.
