Two people have died after a truck hit a stationary motorcycle along the Dikir-Chebunyo road in Narok County on Saturday.

Those who died included a rider and his passenger, who were crushed by the truck that was carrying an excavator.

Area chief Richard Chesimet said another rider who had stopped near the lorry was hit and suffered slight injuries.

“It appears the deceased were drunk because they were riding at high speed and were singing loudly when they hit the stationary motorcycle,"  the chief said.

He said the motorcycle rider and the passenger died on the spot.

The accident scene is about half a kilometre from Dikir town.

Trasmara East subcounty police chief Boniface Kavoo said his officers visited the scene and removed the bodies to the morgue.

He has cautioned motorcycle riders to avoid speeding and riding while drunk.
